SERIES DESCRIPTION
The Warner Electric ATB Series (Advanced Technology Brake) shaft-mounted electromagnetic brakes are completely factory-assembled units engineered to match the torque ratings of standard industrial motors, reducers, and power transmission equipment. Operating on an electromagnetic power-on engagement principle, applying DC voltage energizes the sealed magnet coil to clamp the rugged steel wear surface and molded friction disc. Featuring an Autogap™ mechanism that automatically compensates for wear and a two-piece replaceable friction face, ATB brakes ensure consistent engagement repeatability, low operating noise, and minimal maintenance downtime.
FEATURES
- Replaceable Armature Faces: Two-piece molded friction disc and steel wear surfaces can be replaced without removing the unit from the shaft in most applications.
- Autogap™ Automatic Adjustment: Automatically adjusts for lining wear to maintain consistent air gap, torque, and response times over life.
- Shaft-Mounted Convenience: Easy shaft mounting restrained by a simple anti-rotation torque arm bracket.
- Rugged Heavy-Duty Construction: Precision cast iron components, rugged spline drive, and sealed high-temperature bearing maintain tight concentricity.
- High-Temperature UL Recognized Coil: Sealed coil design with tough Teflon lead wires for dependable electrical operation.
SELECTION PROCEDURE
- Step 1: Determine Model Size—Cross-reference motor horsepower and operating shaft speed (RPM) on the AT Brake HP/SS chart (Size 55 handles up to 55 lb. ft. static torque).
- Step 2: Select Bore Size & Voltage—Verify drive shaft diameter (3/4″ with 3/16″ Sq. keyway) and choose matching coil operating voltage (6 VDC).
- Step 3: Choose Control & Options—Pair with an appropriate DC power supply and select optional torque arm brackets or conduit boxes.
HOW TO ORDER
- Specify Part & Model: Order using part number 5192-170-002 or model ATB-55 (3/4″ Bore, 6 VDC).
- Select Power Supply / Control: Select Appropriate Power Supply/Control. See the Controls Section beginning on page CTL-1.
- Optional Accessories: Torque arm kits, conduit boxes, and standard pulley/sheave adapters can be specified as required.
