SERIES DESCRIPTION
The Warner Electric EM Series (Electro Module) electrically released brakes utilize powerful ceramic permanent magnets to provide reliable holding torque when power is removed from the brake coil. Applying a small DC voltage to the coil nullifies the magnetic field and releases the brake, allowing for a springless design that does not limit cycle rates. These prepackaged modules automatically compensate for wear, require zero lubrication, and are designed for high-performance dynamic stopping and cycling operations.
FEATURES
- Fail-Safe Operation: Automatically engages when power fails or is turned off to ensure safe dynamic stopping or holding.
- Permanent Magnet Design: Heavy-duty ceramic type permanent magnets supply high torque without continuous power draw.
- Automatic Wear Compensation: Maintenance-free operational lifespan that never needs mechanical adjustments.
- Modular Flexibility: Designed to combine easily with a motor clutch or input clutch for complete clutch/brake capabilities.
- UL Listed: Certified and compliant with standard industrial operating safety metrics.
SELECTION PROCEDURE
- Step 1: Verify Configuration—Select the FBC style module when combining with a motor clutch/input clutch for full dynamic cycling applications.
- Step 2: Match Frame & Shaft Dimensions—Confirm compatibility by aligning the module with NEMA C-face sizes (213TC/215TC) and verifying the 1.375″ bore requirements.
- Step 3: Check Thermal Limits—Cross-reference calculated system inertia, speeds, and cycle rates against the size 215 heat dissipation charts to keep temperature ranges within limits.
HOW TO ORDER
- Specify Part & Model: Order using explicit part number 5370-169-254 for model EM-215-20FBC (24 VDC).
- Select Compatible Control: Requires a dynamic control with a variable brake output potentiometer, such as the CBC-300 or CBC-500/550.
