The UM Series Smooth-Start™ UniModules are pre-assembled clutch/brake packages designed for applications that require a softer than standard engagement. By utilizing specialized LK friction material, these units provide reduced torque to ensure less aggressive engagement without sacrificing overall service life, even with longer slip times. This fail-safe design protects sensitive products and machine components from the harsh mechanical shock typical of standard rapid engagement.

Smooth-Start Selection

1. Application Needs: Verify the requirement for soft engagement to protect products or machinery.
2. NEMA Frame Matching: Identify the NEMA C-face frame size of your motor and reducer.
3. Torque Requirements: Select a size (50 to 215) that meets your static torque needs (10–57 lb-ft).
4. Operating Speed: Ensure application speed does not exceed 3600 RPM.

How to Order

1. Specify Part Number: Select the 90V configuration part number (e.g., 5370-273-236 for Size 50).
2. Select Control: Use the CBC-300 Dual Channel Control (P/N 6021-448-009) to set clutch and brake torque levels independently.
3. Optional Accessories: Order the optional Conduit Box separately for 1/2" conduit access.
