PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

The Warner Electric ER-650 is a heavy-duty, bulkhead flange-mounted brake specifically designed for dynamic stopping operations. It is engineered to engage while the shaft is in motion, with a recommended speed of 100 RPM or greater at engagement. Using powerful permanent magnets, the ER-650 delivers a fail-safe braking force of 56 lb. ft. that automatically engages the moment power is removed.

FEATURES

  • Automatic Wear Compensation: Eliminates the need for manual adjustment by automatically compensating for friction face wear.
  • Fail-Safe Design: Reliable permanent magnets ensure the brake engages immediately upon power loss.
  • Superior Heat Dissipation: The segmented armature design allows for high cycle rates and long service life in demanding environments.
  • Pre-Burnished: Factory pre-burnishing ensures the unit reaches its full rated torque immediately upon installation.
  • Installation Flexibility: Can be configured for either inside or outside mounting depending on your machine design.

SELECTION & ORDERING

  1. Verify Dynamic Use: Ensure the application requires stopping a moving shaft (ideally 100 RPM+).
  2. Analyze HP & Speed: Match your requirements using the Horsepower vs. Shaft Speed chart (ER-650 typically covers 1/2 to 3 HP depending on RPM).
  3. Specify Mounting: Determine if an inside or outside mount is required for the installation.
  4. Order Bushing: Specify bore size; the ER-650 requires a Dodge #1310 bushing (ordered separately).
  5. Select Control: Requires a control with a potentiometer to manage the brake channel output.
